Georgia’s BBQ 1 year anniversary
This is going on today.
My first apartment on the Lower East Side gave me an identity crisis.
I was on East Houston Street — the street that separates the East Village from the Lower East Side — and since my apartment was on the South side of the street, my identity was chosen for me.
Now, I was proud enough to be a Lower East Sider, but a large part of me wanted to also be an East Villager. After all, just on the other side of the street, that neighborhood beckoned.
As so, I turned to identity and word concatenation, and the word “Evlester” took hold in my life.
I even went to Neighborhoodies and created an Evlester hoodie.
So, here we are. A blog named after our identity. Livers and lovers of the Lower East Side. Fanboys of the East Village.
A blog. A journey. A life we share with you.
